Unifi Router Buyer's Guide in 2021
If you use Unifi at your home, you are probably not so happy with the speed and stability of the WiFi network. That’s because TM is still a business and they cannot give an expensive router while remain profitable. But, luckily, TM doesn’t stop you from buying your own router.
While the router provided by TM isn’t too bad, they have slower CPU and weaker WiFi coverage. This means they aren’t very good if you stay in a bigger home or if you have more WiFi devices at home. Thus, in this article, I will show you some WiFi routers that I’ve tested that will recommend for you to upgrade your home WiFi router.

I can’t get a proper wifi signal from all corners of my house. Or its at least intermittent. I see the Asus RT-AC55UHP comes highly recommended. Is there a lower budget option that would solve my coverage problem?
Thanks.
You can try the RT-N14 series.
Hi Sir, just upgraded to unifi 50mb but speed with old router goes only up to 20mb. What router do you recommend with a budget of <200?
Since you upgraded, TM should give you a new and better router. Phone them and complaint.
Hi. My bos sign up for 100mbps business unifi plan. Using cable, test on speedtest.net can achieve full 100mbps. But if were using tm’s stock wifi router, the same test can only achieve about 30 mbps only. Can you suggest some way, or maybe explain on why is this happening, and also suggesting any replacement wifi router that can support full 100mbps. Tqs.
I recommend getting any wireless router with Wireless AC ability. The Asus RT-AC68U is a good choice. Your devices need to be Wireless AC compatible as well.

Hi Sir. Can Buffalo Wireless N150 HighPower router, Access Point & Bridge used to replace TM Router (currently use D-Link DIR-615).
Hi, it does not support Unifi.
Hello. I currently using an very old router from unifi (L7-N-R200) with 30mbps plan.
I cannot get full signal in my room that is about 10 meter from the router.
My brother always doing a lot of downloading video,my younger brother and mother always stream movie online.
Due to that, my ping always not stable in Dota 2.
There is about 2 laptops and 6 phones connecting connecting the wifi.
What router do you suggest?
I considering DIR-816L and DIR850L. Does Ac750 enough for the heavy streaming in my house?
Sorry for my bad English*
Having a wireless AC router without wireless AC equipment don’t allow you to enjoy the higher performance as well. I recommend the DIR-850L, I believe you can get it for free from TM if you renew your contract.
Hello.
I upgraded my unifi plan from 5mbps to 30mbps few months ago. The contract is renewed too.
Even I renewed I didnt get the new router,I just get a extend warranty.
Am I cheated by the agent?
No, you are not cheated. TM do not provide new equipment for an upgrade. However, you can phone them and complain about poor performance. They should change a new set of equipment normally .
Hi ,
Can Asus RT-AC55UHP support full coverage for semi-d 5000sq house.
Yes and no. It depends where you put your router and how your house is configured. For optimum performance, you need a secondary access point.

Hi Sir.. Need your kind assistant. My unify modem located on 1st. floor. I’m on 20Mbps Unifi plan but contract already expired. The signal coverage is not so good. Was adviced by telecom personnel to upgrade the router, to call 100 for the upgrade. Kindly advice.
You can just purchase a router and perform the upgrade yourself. Else, just renew your contract and they will give you a free router.
