I just installed the Asus RT-AC3200 so far it looks good. A couple of things I noticed. 1) It does not save the new admin password when you click next. Therfore, if you go out of UI or if it times out, you cannot re-enter with the new password – it is still the default.! 2) Don’t skip step 6…. I did but if you do that you will not be able to connect and the people at unifi don’t tell you this step if you contact them..! Your guide was good and I liked your reminder to go back… Read more »
I don’t face the issue with my Asus RT-AC3200. Maybe you can try updating it to the latest firmware and clear your browser cache. You are most welcomed.
May I know is RT-N12 HP compatible with Unifi? I’m currently using Unifi 5mbps package, any recommendation on router <=RM300?
You can get Asus RT-N14UHP for under RM300. TP-LINK WDR4300 provide better value with 5Ghz wireless.
hi. my tm unifi 30mbps package only able to get 15mbps throung wifi but 30 mbps throng ethernet lan cable. will purchase a stronger asus wifi router solve this issue?
Yes, it will definitely improve the poor wireless on the stock router.
Hi…seeking your expertise.
If I use asus Rt N12D1 router, how do I setup the router for unifi?
Is there an instruction link for setup?
Thanks. Really appreciate your advise.
You can check out this article I just write.
Recently I have upgraded my Unifi to 30Mbps with Jumbo pack…. the wifi speed is still extremely slow. I have contacted Unifi support but if the modem and router is still functioning they won’t replace it for me. May I know if I would like have a tip-top performance with wider coverage, what would you recommend if budget is not a constrain?
If budget is not a constraint, get Asus’ top of the line model. Setup a few additional APs around your house. I particularly like RT-AC68U as it is a good balance between price and performance.
Hi there! I am using unifi as my internet service provider. I intend to buy a new router most probably asus or tp link. I am only using unifi for Internet surfing, streaming and downloading only. I don’t know use the hypp TV service provided. So my question is is it necessary for me to buy a router which is unifi compatible even though I am not using the Hypp TV service? Thank you very much.
Yes. You need VLAN tagging for internet as well.
Do you have a list of Asus in term of launched date ( which one is latest and so on ) Wiki site doesn’t list it and I’m a bit confused on those RT 55,56,65,66,68 also N series, thanks.
Those are the older models and some of them only get Unifi support on beta firmware. That’s the reason why they are not listed.
Dear expert,
According to
http://www.lelong.com.my/tp-link-ac1900-wireless-dual-band-unifi-maxis-fiber-router-archer-c9-ookas-I2136851C-2007-01-Sale-I.htm, it seems to me that C9 work at Unifi ?
I am not sure whether it is true or not. Please see it and let me know whether the C9 is ok or not.
Many thanks.
No idea on this. Please contact TP-LINK support.
Is Linksys WRT 1900 AC router compatible with unifi?
No idea with the compatibility. Even it is compatible, you need to setup the VLAN manually as well.
Hi, thanks for the list. Just need to seek some clarifications on the following: 1) Is it correct to say all the ASUS models listed by you are fully compatible with TM Unifi & HyppTV? 2) ASUS are the easiest to configure and just need to follow user guide in the brochure or on-screen? My current unifi router is downstairs inside my TV cabinet. I am getting very weak and unstable wifi upstairs due to the weak Unifi router. Which ASUS router will you recommend for me to get under such circumstances? I am really a dinosaur when comes to… Read more »

Hi there sifu,
I would like to seek your expert advise as to the latest Wifi Router that is fully compatible with TM’s Unifi. I see that TP-Link has Archer C9 and the Asus ones are quite impressive. I live in an apartment which is not too large, hence, there is no need for a long range/reach for the Wifi signal. Please kindly advise which model should I be investing in? Thank you very much in advance.
I recommend Asus router if your budget is that high≤, they perform better. Archer C9 is not compatible with Unifi. Just purchase according to your budget.
