Hello, I need your help so much please. Sorry that I am not very good in this so please be patient with me. I have my original TM modem and router (30mbps) on the first floor and my pc is on the third floor. The technician from Unifi says that it’s impossible for me to connect from third floor via WIFI. So, he use my Asus RT-N12HP router as a repeater/range extender on the second floor. Everything is fine (facebook / youtube) until I start playing on-line game (CS:GO). Ping is fine (30ms) but I am facing serious packet loss… Read more »

Hi there,
What about for DLink wifi router?

Hi,need your opinion on a replacement router for Unifi 30.For my budget of rm500,i’ve narrowed down to 2 router.that is the rt-ac55uhp and the archer c7.which 1 would be the best choice?

Hi Sifu, I just got the Asus RTAC1200HP. After set up, the connection icon showed green color but Internet page showed no internet. Please advise if I have configure incorrect? Many thanks.

need help from sifu

recently upgraded to unifi 30 and still using the old TPlink router come with vip10. noted the download speed for unifi30 is not stable, the download speed fluctuating but was stable at 1.7mb download speed previously on vip10. is this due to router issue? if yes, can suggest some replacement router. budget 500 plus minus

Hi, can I get your advise which model should buy under budget less than rm300. I’m currently just upg to unifi 30Mbps, planing to replace the TM white+orange router or combine ADSL+Modem router. Tp-link Archer C2 vs. Archer C20, any differences between this 2? or any suggestion which Asus model (under rm300)? Thx.

Hi Sifu…
I want to ask u some question. I just upgrade my plan to Unifi 50 and which model i should choose in order to fully utilize 50 Mbps ? (because the original router(DIR-615) only give like 19 Mbps max speed through speed-test). My budget is around Rm 300… (which model i should go Dlink, TP-link or Asus ? I more concerned about the performance more than brand. )

for TP-link which one i should go (TL-WDR4300 or Archer C2) ?
both are 450 Mbps the different just the Archer C2 is 802.11ac.
Need ur advise.

RT-AC68U 1.3 Gbps costed RM1000 something. Sifu is that mean i have to get model about 1.X Gbps in order to fully utilise the 50 Mbps offered by Unifi ?

As i have seen people with 30 Mbps Unifi Package running at 300 Mbps router didnt even fully utilise the 30 Mbps speed, which only get like 70% of it

Hi sifu, I would like to seek your expert advise as to the latest Wifi Router that is fully compatible with TM’s Unifi. I visited to a computer store and they recommend Asus RT-AC68U, but the price is a bit too high for me. I go thru the Asus website and saw this model RT-AC55UHP. I’m not sure is this model suitable for my house or not. I live in a 3 storey house and currently my DIR-615 placed at 1st floor. Weak signal at ground & 2nd floor and some corner have no signal at ground floor. There’re at… Read more »

Hi Sifu,
After all, i purchased the RT-AC55UHP and set it up by yesterday. Everthing gets improved, in terms of stablebility and coverage of signal. As like what you said, yes this model is good enough to solve my problem. I don’t even have to get an access point for this. Really a big thanks to you.
However, what i’m talking about is only for 2.4GHz. When i switch to 5.0GHz, the signal is not good as like 2.4GHz, unless you at the same floor with the router.
Anyway to improve the signal for 5.0GHz?

Hi,

I have Unifi 30Mbps and I use the given router. The router is at the living room downstairs, and the signal is very weak upstairs. I am thinking of using a powerline adapter (let’s say TP-LINK PA4010KIT), and then using another router plugged into the adapter that is located upstairs. Can I do that? If can, what kind of powerline adapter is okay? What kind of router is okay? Will there be a second wireless network? Is it going to disrupt the original network? I have never used a wireline adapter before.

Thanks

Hi Sifu,
How about Asus RT-AC66U? good for unify 5mb? i’m currently stuck, dunno which 1 to choose, either RT-AC56U or RT-AC66U.

Sifu , I am thinking to replace the stock Unifi router since I am upgrading to the new 30mbps , are there any good router recommendation under rm200 perhaps ? Just a single floor house , and need easy QoS setup . TQ !

Which model in the Asus RT-N12 does sifu recommend? Or anyone of the series is good enough?

I am using a Asus RT-N18U with Unifi 30Mbps.
When I watch online movie using MiBox, the line seems unstable, video streaming is almost not moving at all.
Wifi signal weak when I am further away from the router.
Connection also seems to be unstable where it can drop from full bar to one bar at the same location out of a sudden.

What could be the cause?

Will replacing the Asus router with a higher end model solve the problem?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hi Blacktubi, I’ve just upgraded my internet package from vip 5 to unifi 30. It seems incapable of reaching to that expected 30mbps on wireless unless I plug in the LAN cable. Called their customer service ended up telling me to buy my own router as they only provide the standard ones. I’m using desktop from my room with a D-link N150 wireless usb adapter, while the router is at the living hall next to my room. Here’s my question: 1) Any suggestion to get back my 30mbps speed via wi-fi? 2) Should I change to a dual band router… Read more »
