Hi i did bought asus rt-n14uhp
I did connect internet but i cant connect with unifi tvbox and android tvbox.
How to connect the unifi tv box and android tv box?
Please refer to my Asus tutorial here.
my office has 20 staff. using 20 Mbps Unifibiz. What the suitable model should I choose to serve entire office
It depends on your budget and what kind of equipment you looking at. For consumer equipment, just get one from Asus or D-Link is fine.
Hi. I have a problem getting TP Link powerline to accept my Lan connections with the Unifi set up. Currently, I have the modem connected to Unifi router, and one Lan cable from Lan 4 to TP Link powerline. I have the other TP Link powerlink socket connected in another room, connected to Hypp TV box, and it works. However, this has three Lan point outlet, but the other two is not working. Should I be just changing the router to solve this problem. I read elsewhere that we need a switch as well… http://www.thepcharbor.com/shop/en/unifi-broadband-solutions/1495-unifi-router-replacement-kit-no-12.html I hope I am making… Read more »
Of course it will not work as your Powerline connection will only work for HyppTV connections. Unless you plug it to the non HyppTV LAN port then all 3 ports on the powerline will work but doing this will kill HyppTV.
Is there a way out for me? Like changing the router as recommended by you, or by buying extra set of powerline adaptor so that one is out for Hypp TV and the other to my rest of my equipments?
I do not think so. Have you ever considered wireless HyppTV? I believe new TM Equipment support Wireless HyppTV.
Hi there, Great article. I have been looking for something like these ever since I got my Unfi 30mbps, which have been really bad, at times worse than my previous Streamyx 4mbps. At times when I play games on my mobile, I have really bad lag spikes. My house is a Semi-D Double Storey house, with up 20 devices at times during busy times. Currently I have 3 boxes stacked on each other, the bottom one is some “Alcatel” modem, then “Innotech” router, and the top is the Hypptv. On this list, is to replace the “Innotech” router only right?… Read more »
Yes, you are only able to replace the Innotech unit. You need to call TM to obtain the ID and Password to setup your new router.
Thanks
Hi,
I have just bought the Asus RT-AC55UHP. Will set it up sometime this week, hope everything will be OK.
Thanks again.
Hello,
I decide to replace my TM Unifi router. Between these 2 router: RT-N14UHP and DIR-816L…Which is better for 2 story house and provide good coverage?
Thank you.
Asus RT-N14UHP is better. It is also more expensive.
Hi. I’m new in this. And I would like your recommendation on the wireless router . I will be using 50mbps unifi advance in double storey terrace soon. Currently there will be 10 devices (4 laptops & 5 phone & 1 ipad) connecting to the internet . I need a stable connectivity while visiting streaming site like youtube for all users. Budget is within RM 200 . What is your recommendation ? And if i can get better and smoother speed while all users is accessing streaming site, i dont mind topping up another RM 100 or do i need… Read more »
If you want to prevent abuse and congestion, you need a top of the range model with effective QoS engine. Else, get something with good signal strength and hope for the best. Asus RT-N12 series is fine, the RT-N14UHP is even better.
Hi,
Currently i have ASUS RT-N14UHP Wireless-N High Power Router but this is without DSL port.
Need your advice which type of DSL+ethernet that I’m able to purchase to support unifi 30mbps.
Thanks
DSL+Fibre compatibility? That is very limited.
Your RT-N14UHP is great and it can work with ADSL. You just need to configure an existing ADSL modem as bridge mode.
I’m not sure why my condo is using Ethernet instead of Fibre. But the speed same as Fibre.
Does modem below work for Unifi and RT -N14UHP ?
http://www.ipmart.com.my/main/product/TP_Link_ADSL2_Ethernet_USB_Modem_Router_TD_8817_TP_Link_Warranty_336821.php?prod=336821.
It is the usual telephone line instead of Fibre for condo Unifi rollout. It is known as VDSL. TD-8817 only works with ADSL. For Unifi, you need to use their provided modem.
A very nice article!
Btw, can you advice me which router is better, RT-AC55UHP or RT-N66U?
Currently I’m using maxis fibre 10mbs, and I’m experiencing heavy lag/spike while playing online game (dota 2) whenever someone else is streaming youtube, movie etc. So i am hoping to find a replacement router that can provide stable speed with good QOS ability.
Thank you.
The RT-AC55UHP is a newer router and it supports faster wireless. Both routers come with the standard QoS which you need to figure out the port of the game you playing and adjust the priority to the highest.
Hi, I just curious is there any unifi modem router combo you would like to recommend?
No, you cannot replace the modem (ONU) as that belongs to TM. You can only use your own router with the provided modem.
I read your articles written about the Asus Wifi routers with full interest.
Planning to get an ASUS AC wifi router like RT-AC1200HP or RT-AC55UHP.
I have a few questions on the below areas.
1. Qos
– Can above Asus routers support adaptive Qos configuration, but not limited to control/prioritise VPN, VoIP traffic.
2. VPN Server
i) Can above Asus routers be configured as VPN router?
ii) If Asus RT-AC55UHP and/or RT-AC1200HP is configurable as VPN server, can it at the same support
VPN clients at local segment (behind this router) connects to any other VPN servers in Internet?
1) You will need the more expensive series such as RT-AC68U to enjoy Adaptive QoS.
2) Yes, you can.
Boss,
My budget is RM600 max, looking for 5ghz connection router and friendly unifi. I live in a Semi-D house with 12 devices most of the time. Now im using 50mbps unifi advance with hypptv.
My questions:
1. Which model and brand you recommend me to buy?
2. Where should I place the router? Higher place?
3. The old router im planning to make it as a WiFi repeater. Can you teach me how to do it? [email protected]
Hi,
I recommend the Asus RT-AC55UHP. The signal strength is quite strong and should be adequate for your Semi-D. I recommend you to place it at the center of the house but not confined space. However, do not expect to get full 50Mbps when your signal is lower. Using an existing router as repeater require some firmware modification.
I am just recently told by my installer say that above 200 can get a asus router and with the stand alone port for my cctv to view only. may i know what model is that?
I think it is the RT-N12.
